X CAN Day 10 Christina Lake to Castlegar

Double digit day!

Time                    3:46-4:01
Distance               78.5 km
Elevation             1223m
Max Elevation     1535
Weather               Mostly overcast, Hail at the high point. Fresh snow just above us on the hills
Flats                    Zero-Zip

Rain stopped early morning prior to starting.  Weather forecast for today was beyond nasty, however no rain to start the day.

Greg stopped with us going up the hill to the pass around 3 or 4 times so it was nice to see the trailer. We ascended 1223m in about 30k.

Distant mountains with lots of new snow.  Light traffic today...Sunday drivers. No wildlife but lots of dead birds on the road :(.

Long downhill into Castlegar with 2 spots over 7% grade.  Cool going down.  We stopped for a sandwich break on the way down as the sun came out.  It was a nice break in the sun.

Two scary bridges...one going up the pass and one in Castlegar.  We didn't look down.

At one of our food stops...on an 8% uphill grade, when Heidi started off  riding...she fell over, then rolled over with the bike not touching the ground.  Mike wondered what was happening.  Mike said it looked like a dead armadillo.  No problem with the bike...the seat needed to be adjusted...that is all.

It was definitely a two sandwich day and no coffee shops to be had!

Our campsite tonight is an ADULT ONLY park in a old drive in theatre site.  Nancy wants me to add that these are the nicest campground bathrooms so far.  (I think it is because there was free showers)

Cheers   Mike!

Wow-a picture of Heidi dropping and rolling would have been a keeper! Glad you are okay!
No news here - still cool. Our trip home from Osoyoos was good -visited 3 sets of longtime friends.
Keep the stories coming, Cheers!!

Thanks for the daily play by play and pictures. I would like to see a close up of the bikes and what you carry for the day. Camp life and meals too. Details, details, details. A day in the life of Greg for the record would be great.

Clearly Greg was in charge of picking the campsite. Sounds like an epic trip already. Love the updates.
