Garmin prediction for todays ride was 430m of elevation and as you see above it was double that.
Started from Riverhaven just east of Hedley. Within a few minutes we were through Hedley, cute little town. Traffic was light and no problems.
Headed out of town and rode up to the Upper Bench Road which was the start of the vineyards and lots of fruit trees. Cherries were red! We saw a red tail hawk
On the highway to Keremeos the winds were starting to pick up and once up on the Bench Road were quite strong. Good practice for the prairies.
Mike and Heidi started out a bit earlier than Nancy and Dave and we met up in Keremeos for coffee at a nice little coffee shop.
From Keremeos lots of smaller ups and downs and then one big up and then a very fast downhill into Osoyoos. Total decent today was 1100 m with headwinds which was fun when you were going fast!!
When we arrived at camp Greg had us all set up and Mike wandered down to the lake and stood in the cooler water and it felt amazing and then a short nap on the grass beside the water....looking like a homeless person.
Laundry and some clean up and happy hour.
Two days ago Cathy and Tom, Mike's Inlaws from Quesnell, texted and said they were going to meet up in Osoyoos with a Salmon and Lasagna. They arrived last night around 6:05 so Mike had a bed to sleep on last night. Cathy is making us dinner tomorrow night and brought a couple of Lasagnas for the freezer for Mikes next dinner night.
A bit of explaining dinner situation. We have a rotating schedule, one person cooks and another cleans up. That way everyone has some down time and prep time and some days you get a day off. Seems to be working well.
We headed up the hill to the Restaurant and had a walk through the vineyard to get to it and then found out it was too busy. So we walked back down and headed to the Watermark Restaurant. Had a nice social evening knowing we don't have to get up too early.
We are acclimatizing for the hot weather and some of us are loving it..
At the end of Six Days legs are good and feeling like we Will/Can make it to St. Johns.
Cheers Mike!
