XCAN Day 4 Sunshine Valley to East Manning Park

Distance       56.7 km
Elevation      891m
Time             2:44
Weather       Rain and 8 C to Sunny to 20 C

While at Sunshine Valley, we learned it was a Internment Camp during the second world war.  Interesting history for sure.

We were up in the morning with a bit of sun showing through the clouds.  Mike headed off about a half hour before the rest of us.  By the time we were packed up and ready to go there was a wind blowing and a cool rain.  Not a nice way to start.

The first 14 K or so was down hill so it was quite cool.

Then we started the climb!  It was just over 23 km of climb, Nancy says it was good!  Beautiful views and a very twisty road through parts.
We caught up with Mike and then Nancy and Dave went on ahead.

We arrived at Allison Summit, 1342m and then it was all downhill to the Manning Park Lodge on some beautiful newly paved roads for part of it.

Dave and Nancy were already at the lodge, being speed demons and enjoying the sunshine that finally arrived.

We stopped for a quick lunch and coffee and visited with the locals, and then headed downhill again to Mule Deer Campground where Greg already had the trailer set up.

We enjoyed the afternoon sun beside the babbling River,

The sun went behind the mountains early so it got quite cool fast.  Mike made dinner and it was an early night for all.
