Weather Slight drizzle to dry to RAIN!

We camped up a mountain at Jewel Lake Campground, mosquito heaven, getting us ready for Northern Ontario. We were driven back down to Greenwood by Greg, as the road was not great. We HAD to start our days ride at the Tourist Bureau to ensure we do EFI!!
At the start of the ride there were two other riders heading to Christina Lake as well. We saw them arrive in Grand Forks as we were leaving.
A slight drizzle when we left Greenwood and then started a climb that was a beautiful grade and the ascent went by fast. We followed the Trans Canada Trail which ran beside the hwy for a while which was part of an old Rail Trail. 18km up easy grades and then along a plateau. It was beautiful up there with the woodpeckers and the trembling Aspen and small lakes which made for a nice ride.
Then we started downhill. Headwinds were lighter than yesterday and it was a fast decent to Grand Forks.
Nancy and Dave scoped out a good coffee shop called The Boardroom, which provided most of the group with great sandwiches along with very good coffee. Highly recommended. Best Coffee so far!
While having coffee there were a couple of disaster relief fellows and a whole pile of Samaritan Purse people who were helping gut the flooded houses of wet insulation and cleaning up mould. Grand Forks is slow getting back on its feet, as the government funding for relief was slow.
We met an American Group of riders who were doing the Trans Canada Trail to Vancouver. They were then going to ride to Port Hardy on the Island and take ferries to Skagway off and on and riding around towns.
I sent a message to Greg who was already at Christina Lake and he advised that there was a lot of rain from Grand Forks to Christina Lake so we dressed accordingly. About 7 K out we hit the rain which did not let up. Arrived to a warm set up trailer thanks to Greg and were able to shower and dry out.
This was a nice easy recovery ride today....after yesterdays hilly ride and before tomorrows hill climb up and then down to Castlegar.
Dried out our outside gear and watched the rain and the forecast for tomorrow. The pass we are heading towards is 1570m elevation and forecast is for snow over 1500m. In the morning we will check the weather and make a decision on what we will be doing.
Stay tuned! Heidi

No tornados Tony. Have you got any suggestions for where we should bike, what to see, where to eat in PEI? Since we can't visit you there now 🙁
