XCan Days 14 and 15

Day 14 was our second rest day and we spent it in Cranbrook doing the usual rest day activities.

Mike went for a coffee in the morning and then joined Heidi and Greg for a trip to Kimberly.

Day 15 - a beautiful ride from Cranbrook to Fernie.
It was a glorious day - sunny, beautiful scenery and a downhill course. The shoulder on highway 3 was a bit broken up in spots and that along with rumble strips and lots of traffic made for a bit of a stressful ride at times.
We stopped at a great little restaurant for coffee and lunch at the halfway point before continuing unto Fernie.
The ride from the highway up to the Mt Fernie Provincial Park was the steepest of the day - 10% grade, but the campground had hot showers. (Rating 8).
Weather aside, British Columbia is a fantastically beautiful province. From the bodies of clear water, clean air, beautiful scenery, and very friendly and helpful people, we are truly blessed to be able to live and play here. It's amazing to me the reception we have received across the province, from other riders from across the world, to people who have struck up a conversation and then asked for our blog address. I hope you have all been enjoying it!

Nancy and Dave did laundry and dropped their bikes off at Gerricks Bike store while going for lunch at Soul Food restaurant. After lunch Mike went to the courthouse to watch the proceedings while the rest rested 😊 or worked.

Mike had made a reservation at the Algerian restaurant for dinner which we all agreed was delicious. Not sure if Mike included a bathroom/shower rating for our campground in Cranbrook but it was a good one with ratings from 8-9.

Distance: 95.6 km

Elevation: 594m

Time: 3:45

Flats: none (2 Total for Trip)

Weather: sunny and warm

Mike gave us a lesson on playing Stix (beginners luck!) and then we took a trip into Fernie.

Fernie is a really cute little town with huge scenery! We are going to go in for breakfast tomorrow before we head out to Frank where we are hoping the weather in Alberta will be better to us than BC weather.

Cheers,y
