XCan Day 66 - Matane to Ste. Anne Des Mont

Distance: 91.6 km
Time: 3:48
Speed: 24 km/hr
Ascent: 677 m
Weather: mixed bag - sunny, foggy, overcast
Bathroom Rating: 5
Today's ride had more elevation than we've seen since northern Ontario with a couple of fairly significant climbs - but that kept it interesting.  For most of the ride there was fog over the St. Lawrence so even though we were riding the coast road there wasn't much we could see.  When we arrived at camp though, the fog had cleared and it was beautiful, sunny, and calm.  Nancy thought the air temperature was perfect but she likes it cool.  He others found it a bit on the cool side.
Heidi and Greg met for a coffee and sandwich at a roadside cantina - Greg says that's the last cantina for him.  Nancy and Dave stopped at a restaurant that was run by a bunch of older women.  Now, keep in mind, we are in the heart of French Quebec - these older women could speak English really well.  We were impressed.  Is one thing to meet young people speaking English, but we don't expect it so much with the older crowd for some reason.
We passed a new couple of riders carrying panniers today.  They were from Quebec and were riding across Canada.  I don't expect we will meet too many other cyclists riding across Canada and doing the Gaspe Peninsula.
A short ride tomorrow and then a rest day!
Cheers,
Nancy and Dave
