XCan Day 32 - Prawda Pine Tree Campground to Willows

Campground east of Kenora
DIstance: 121 km
TIme: 4:03
Weather: hot, sunny with huge tailwind
Flats: 2 today, 11 in total
Bathrooms/showers: 6

We left in batches today - Mike early, Nancy and Dave later, Heidi last so we would arrive at the border at roughly the same time - that didn't work: Nancy and Dave Mike, Heidi - she had her 6th flat in total, she is helping the cash flow of local bike shops.
Beautiful tailwind from campsite but the shoulders for approximately 20km were still gravel.  Mike, Dave and Nancy all were rebels and rode on the white line as there were rumble strips right of the white line.  All made great time with that tailwind.
We are now in the Canadian Shield, hit that around Falcon Lake in Manitoba.  Lots of evergreen and birch trees, large boulders and rolling hills.  Once we got on paved shoulders they were great.  Unfortunately the Ontario tourist building at the border was closed today because of the Canada Day holiday but there were lots of people there interested in what we were doing.  MIke stopped for a lunch of BLT and fries at the Esso station restaurant at about 85km, Nancy and Dave went into Kenora for fish and chips at the Boat House Restaurant.  Mike discovered a slow flat when he stopped for ice cream and juice but managed to pump it up enough to get him into camp.
When we rolled into our campsite Bonnie and Jim dropped over for a chat, they are staying at the same campground as us embarking on a two week canoe camping trip.  It's so great to catch up with old friends from Winnipeg.  Other than Nicole Stewart I think we saw most of our old gang who are still in The Peg.
Hot and windy day with beautiful riding.
Cheers,
Nancy and Dave
