Weather:              Cooler today, South West Wind, foggy at Wawa  14-29 C

Started out today by guiding Greg out of the campsite and getting a ride to Hwy 17.  Just a note about the highways.  From Ontario eastward there is no Hwy 1 until Newfoundland.  Weird.

Anyway...it was an easy ride hill wise...just some easy climbs...but the wind!  We had it at our tail for a bit today...but as we were heading South east most of the day...we were butting heads with it off and on all day and at the end when it should have been a nice fast downhill section it was hard sometimes to get up to 20 K an hour.  Made for a longer day.

We stopped shortly in White River...which is where Winnie the Pooh was supposed to have "all began" so the signs say.  They had a plaque and a statue to the Pooh.

Nancy photobombed...or I did?!!?
But actually a bear was bought and taken to England by a Canadian serving overseas.  He left the bear in the London Zoo and eventually gave the bear to the zoo.  That is where AA Milne and his son Christopher saw the bear and then stories were written afterwards.  Kind of sad for the bear.

Greg found a restaurant 63 km out so we met him there for lunch.  It was really just a fishing lodge but nice people there and fresh cut fries.   We had a break for lunch and then hit the road again.

Speaking of the road.  This was the worst stretch of highway so far on our trip across Canada.  Very little shoulder and what there was of a shoulder every couple of hundred meters it seemed it was  broken up and non existent.  A lot of time spend dodging around and on the road.  Luckily it wasn't super busy on the roads today but I was forced off by one truck...luckily I have had lots of practice hitting the dirt and my bike is great in the gravel.

We also passed the 1000 km marker for Ontario.  I think we might be half way through Ontario??

Also...Lucky Nancy and Dave saw a moose.  It was walking across the road about 200 M down...and then it starred down a car then walked to the side of the road.  Stopped and looked at Nancy and Dave  and then sauntered into the bush.  I was in the bush back down the road aways so I missed the event of the day!!! (as Nancy keeps saying)

The fog about 10 Km outside of town and hovering over the campsite made for a cool afternoon.  But the showers were hot so I felt I used a lot of hot water, but not as much as Nancy who went to the shower about 5 minutes before me and came back about 10 minutes after me.

Dave and Nancy made dinner and then the guys headed to town to find water for the next couple of days.

Checked in with Mike.  He is still in hospital but doing well he says. We miss him!

All in all a good day...just long.  An early bed tonight.

Thanks for reading,  Heidi

Hope the roads get better - sounds challenging.
