Day started out cool and overcast with strong winds from the west. The winds never really subsided and it remained cool so the ride was really quite pleasant. There was nothing...no gas stations, restaurants or other places to stop at for the first 106k and then it was a gas station and family restaurant in Upsala. Nancy and Dave made a stop there and discovered the place had very good strawberry, rhubarb pie...a little pick me up for the last 21k. On route Mike saw a healthy male moose took the which didn't turn. The only other things of note were the burned out shell of a transport truck about 50k out and another transport truck tipped on its side about 100k out. Nancy talked to a big-rig driver at the restaurant and she said she always tries to move away from bikes whenever possible - She was thanked profusely!
We have been leap frogging another couple of riders doing the cross Canada trip and today we came in touch with one of the riders again, Gilles from France. Apparently his travel companion decided to spend an extra day in Winnipeg and had his bike and tent stolen while he spent the night in a bed and breakfast.
Arrived at the Savanne River Resort, a bit of a stretch to call it a resort...no bathrooms, no showers only outhouses, to pay the most for for a one night stay so far. When you have a "Resort" in the middle of nowhere, apparently you can charge what ever you want. But this did give us an opportunity to try the outside shower on the trailer and it was quite refreshing.
All in all a good day.
Dave
