We said goodbye to Mike yesterday, we are going to miss him on this ride, his sense of humour was enjoyed by everyone and his easy-going style made our adventure more fun.
Mike had a bit of a crash two days ago and was admitted to hospital in Thunder Bay for tests. He has four fractured ribs but no head injuries which we are all happy about. He will be flying back when he escapes from the hospital. We spent yesterday packing up his clothes and bike and saying our goodbyes.

After talking to a number of people about the route and forest fire northwest of North Bay we decided to take highway 17 rather than our original plan of 11. What a great decision!
Highway 17 is hillier than 11 but the scenery is spectacular. We rode along the north shore of Lake Superior with some stunning vistas. Greg met us for coffee along the route - a short route today but we are constrained by campgrounds.

Our campground is beautiful with short walks to White Sands Lake where canoe rentals are available. Dave and Heidi planned the next week of campsites and Greg and I are hoping for a quick game of stix before bed.
A great day for a ride!
Cheers,
Nancy and Dave

Sorry to hear about Mike. Glad it wasn't more serious but sounds serious enough.
He'll be disappointed not to finish the ride.
Good choice on the route, it looks great. Hills are the best part!
