Today we slept in until almost until almost 8am. However as we crossed the time zone yesterday it was really 7 am. Oh well.
Relaxed breakfast and then packed up my bike to take it into the shop for new brakes and chain. A big shout out to Fresh Air and their Cycle shop and staff who fit us travelers in without appointments and to get us On the road to continue our journey. Thank you so much.
A couple of haircuts for Dave and Greg and then back to the campsite. Everyone caught up with laundry today. Nancy, Dave and Mike headed off to do grocery and booze shopping and Tim Hortons, which was nice as it is the first time Greg and I have had an afternoon off on our “rest” days. I guess it is our turn again next time. We used the afternoon to head down to the river and enjoyed the sun, water and a book.
All the bikes were cleaned and oiled today as well so we are ready for our next week traveling in Northern Ontario.
We went out for dinner again, Two nights in a row, wow, and had a nice Greek style dinner.
After dinner, on the way back to the campsite, Mike asked if we could go see the Terry Fox Memorial which is only about 2km from our camp. Greg drove there and it was an amazing evening.
The sun was hitting the statue and the amazing views of Lake Superior behind. It was very emotional for me. Very glad we went this evening under the perfect conditions
When we got back to the trailer I read an article that was written in the Virden Paper about Nancy and Dave and shared by the frontrunners community.. Nice that Nancy and Dave got recognition for riding across Canada and all. But just to set the record straight on the article. We, Heidi and Mike who are the other two bike riders who are on this journey and the very important truck diver and trailer setup person Greg, are not going from MacDonalds “fast food” place to another across this amazing country. Greg Mike and I are also soaking up all the sights, sounds and local flavour that we can in the towns and areas we pass through. That particular day in Virden, we had stopped at a Tim Horton’s because Greg is hauling a 32 foot trailer for us all to eat and sleep in. So with the truck he is around 55 feet long and going into small towns, worrying about turning around and such is a problem It is easier to stop at the truck stops at the road side so Greg can join the rest of us for coffee and conversation before we head off again. I guess that the woman who wrote the article did not know all this, or that it sounded better the way she glorified it!
Anyway....sorry for the rant and Thank You for reading!

Cheers from Pauly and Rene, Victoria, BC
Full credit to Greg for driving that monster! Somebody has to do the real work.
Hold it..... no McDonalds????
Sounds like you're having a wonderful trip.
Fully agree with the trailer parking issue.
Many times on our travels we would have loved to check out some local eateries but it always comes down to "Can we get the trailer in and out again ?"
Even gas stations are a challenge.
You're doing great Greg !
Don't let it get to ya, Mom. Journalists always twist quotes and observations to make them more entertaining.
We're all super proud of all you cross-Canada trekkers!!
YES!! Mom, we're SO PROUD of you and Dad, Dave, Nancy, and Mike. I tell people on a daily basis about your journey. This has really made me realize how media can change a story.
